10 Months and Counting

After 2 months of brooding and going into denial that Donnie Middleton and Bobby Flood Sr have won the Lagoon Legend Memorial trophy, it is time to start the countdown once again. The my post will be few in the near future, it's never too early to start the talk.

The 2009 Championship is slated for Tennessee (not sure where). The beauty of this major is the flexibility and the varying tests of golf it put you through. All I can see is spend some quality time with that trophy...10 months goes fast.

The LLM committee is also contemplating imposing fines on those participants who withdrew from the 2008 competition. It is not clear whether the penalty will be financial or handicap related.

Oh no! I heard Jimmy Hicks went home early again this year! What? It wasn't Jimmy Hicks? Oh. It was Ms Seve, Ms Philip and Ms Rughead! Now I've heard it all.

60 Hours Until I Defend My Title

It seems the pressure of the major is getting to some as they withdraw, all the while yacking all over their Foot-Joys. As everyone begins to clean their clubs, clean out the bag, re-stock the golf balls and make last minute swing changes, just remember one thing...

"Bring all your clubs, and all your courage."

Good News

The forecast for Panama City has improved. It now appears a few showers will be scattered around on Tuesday, but that's about it.

Forcast For 20th Lagoon Legend Memorial Championship

It looks like this years winner of the LLMC will need to be a mudder. Current forecasts have plenty of rain for Tuesday through Thursday of the championship. Bring your rain gear (or plastic Kroger bags for your shoes). The Lagoon Legend Memorial Blog Meteorological Team will continually monitor and update the forecast throughout the week.

Can You Feel the Excitement?

As thousands of golf fans descended on Louisville this week for the 37th Ryder Cup, the media in the press tent was buzzing about the other "Ryder Cup" matches in Florida 2 weeks from now. In the interest of the fans and keeping the buzz going the next few weeks, I propose we draw for Ryder Cup teams now and post them on this website. This will also allow the publishing company to finalize this years media guide. If there are any objections, please let me know.

12th Man...

I heard Bob T is available. Everybody has been calling saying how much they wish he was going. Seve's pillow is sopping wet as he cries himself to sleep at night and Rughead needs someone to speak up when it's time to pee! Bobby Sr. loves that dollar, dollar, dollar money and Tommy Sr. needs his guidance and opinion. Little Brian needs someone to make sure he eats his entire seafood platter and Harold needs someone to swap medication with. If we make sure Bob T doesn't have to drive, I think he could make it...especially on this 20th Anniversary Trip.

12th Man?

From all accounts, it appears we have 11 people going on the trip. If my 2nd grade math skills are honed, that means we could use one more person to make 3-even groups of 4. It would also make the Ryder Cup teams even. Does anybody have any prospects? This is who we have, according to what I have heard...
  1. Donnie
  2. Phillip
  3. Seve
  4. Gary
  5. Bobby Sr.
  6. Bobby Jr.
  7. Harold
  8. Tommy
  9. Rughead
  10. Wag
  11. Brian

Just Some Friendly Motivation (Where is Tommy's Picture?)

I drive 1,500 miles to play golf,
Just to cuss the game.
I play well in Kentucky,
Just to be disappointed in Florida
I let my dreams run rampant,
Just to have my dreams turn in to a 102 at Olympia
I AM THE LAGOON LEGEND MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT!

I know I have plenty of handicap this year,
Just not enough to win
I know I'm going to be MVP of my Ryder Cup Team,
Just to lose most rounds 4 and 3.
I've regripped my clubs or have bought new ones,
Just to swing like I've never swung a club before.
I AM THE LAGOON LEGEND MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT!

I know this is going to be my year to win,
Just to find out I'll have to wait 1 more year.
I packed my nicest clothes in my finest luggage,
Just to have other players make fun of me.
I can't wait for that first swing, that first round,
Just to shoot myself out of it the first day.
I AM THE LAGOON LEGEND MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT!

The tournament starts in 38 days! Brian has been going to the driving range every day at lunch time....Wag has been stopping by the shag field every day on the way home....Tommy and Bobby have been beating up on Jimmy Hicks every week to boost their moral.....Seve's been crying because he won't have Bob T. around to raise his game another notch.....Rughead's been stopping by Dad's 3 days a week gleaning pointers from the expert....Donnie,...well Donnie's just been sitting around laughing about how easy it's going to be from the white tees.

Fourty-One Days Left. Do You Know Where Your Game Is?

I expect everyone to be practicing (except you, Donnie...you're hitting from the whites. You don't need to practice).
We need to get or pre-trip round together sometime soon like we always do. We can discuss in more detail where we are going and draw for Ryder Cup teams. I also need a list sent to me of who is going...the media is
demanding it!

Welcome to the Lagoon Legend Memorial Blog!

OK all you trip veterans, rookies, washed-up has beens and rising stars, this is your chance to post your trash talk, latest news and embarrassing stories. You can post pictures or video clips. This will help everyone stay informed throughout the year on how well certain people are playing, of significant injuries, good ideas, ideas you think are good ideas and any other crap I know this group is capable of shoveling! If no one posts, I will be forced to put a picture of me sleeping with the trophy!
